Toshiba DR570 Reviews

rated 4 out of 5 Toshiba DR570 DVD Recorder with Built in Tuner, black
by M. Hughes from Hope Mills, NC USA, 2010-07-26

I enjoy having a DVD recorder that I can use to record tv programming onto disc, however, the clock does not stay accurate for some reason, so I have to be there to actually start the recording process. It is a little time consuming and somewhat tedious to learn, but the pages in the manual can be paperclipped for future reference. Would not recommend recording on the 8 hour mode because the sound skips out a lot on playback! I know that you will come to love yours as I love mine though.

rated 2 out of 5 Waste of money for me
by Robert K. Dingman from bh mich, 2010-07-24

Only worked for a month or 2 when DVD drive failed.

was useful for awhile as an over the air tuner but that has recently failed.

I notice there is very little on the market for DVD recoders w/ an ATSC tuner and ones that are available don't hold up.

rated 3 out of 5 Reliable but one significant editing problem
by J. Burt from California, 2010-07-23

I have 4 Toshiba DVD recorders of various models. All work reliably and I am happy with them. Editing is not super easy, but I don't do much & it mostly works. BUT one important editing feature does not on the 2 I tested. On DVD+R disks, it is possible to add chapter marks manually. This would allow skipping ahead to selected spots, like after the credits, to the next song, or after ads. These chapters are NOT visible on any machine but another Toshiba.

rated 1 out of 5 Don't buy it!
by Edward Arguello from Milwaukee, WI USA, 2010-07-20

I had the Toshiba DR570KU DVD Video Recorder for about 7 months. It wasn't the easiest unit to use but it did okay. Then one day while recording, it started to make a clunking noise in the disc tray and stopped recording and the screen came up with a disc error. Nothing I did could make this work again. Why do these companies make such junk that it can't even last a year?

I am still trying to figure who to get this thing to finalize the disk. the copied dvds don't work anywhere else but on this machine.
