Solved a problem

I bought this antenna to use with my Elgato EyeTV Hybrid tuner stick for my Mac. With an old set of plain rabbit ears I was able to get most channels, but not the local ABC affiliate (I live in Dallas) - a real nuisance. Based on my review of Elgato user forums, I had doubts whether this antenna would solve the problem, but it did. Signal strengths are markedly better than before, and I even picked up seven additional channels, including the ABC affiliate. The coax cable is integrated with the unit, which will be a problem for anyone who needs longer (or shorter) cable. I didn't measure it, but it looks to be about 6 feet. Nevertheless, the cable should be detachable from the unit in case someone wants to substitute a longer one without buying a splicer. Not a problem for me, though, so I'm happy.

For the rave reviews people are giving this thing, its alright. Everyone says they are out in the middle of nowhere and get a bazzillion channels. Well, I dont live in the middle of nowhere, I live between to major cities, yet I only get 6 digital channels and 2 HD channels. Sure I get a bunch of fuzzy looking oldschool channels that I could care less about and I'm not going to waste the time screwing around with bunny ears. This is a mid-range product. I'm sure there is something better out there. If you find it, let me know ;)
doesn't get a better signal

Using this thing made no difference in my reception over rabbit ears. In fact, I ended up getting less channels. Also, the base of this thing is too small so it tips over easily.

My dad live in an apartment building and this works so well. I thought he'd get like 5 channels but he got over 50. He is happy that he is getting more channels now. Before he was paying for cable and they only gave him 3 or 5 channels. It looks a little odd but it works.
how to power w/ 9v battery

Very good antenna.
I bought for a battery operated TV for power outages.
Easily spliced a 9 volt (smoke detector type) battery into the power cord.
Works perfectly for 1.75 hours on new battery.
Made my day. Pulled in stations 35 miles away.
