First off, I got this TV for the insanely low price of $2,179 right here on Amazon.com. I just put the money aside and watched the price fluctuation until it dropped to the lowest price I thought it would go. Gotta shop smart on Amazon. Anyways, the TV is gorgeous and the fact that it's only about as thick as an LED TV amazes everybody. I'll start with the only two cons I have with this TV and that's the fact that it does run a little hot. It will raise the temperature in the room. Also, the Yahoo! Widgets are so slow that I won't even think twice about using them again. People complain about the buzzing noise, but the only time I ever hear it is when the room is completely quiet and there's no sound coming out of the speakers at all. As far as picture quality goes, it looks amazing. If you're like me, you hate the "soap opera" look of the 120HZ and 240HZ LCD and LED TV's. This plasma gives you amazing picture clarity and color while still maintaining the cinematic look when watching Blu Ray movies. Burn-in is going to happen and it will happen rather quickly for the first 100 hours of use. However, it's easily removed with the TV's side scrolling burn-in remover. I play XBOX 360 on this thing for hours at a time and haven't had anything stay on the screen permanently. In fact, I don't think I've noticed any burn-in after playing video games. The only time I've gotten any kind of burn-in is after watching a movie or TV program where the image doesn't take up the entire screen. The black bars on either the sides or the top and bottom will be noticeable, but easily removed.

This my 1st HD so I don't have any comparison but I love it so far (less than 1 month). Friends also very impressed. Only issue is since it's wall mounted, it's hard to connect stuff (I'm sure that's not unique to this tv).

The Samsung 58 inch plasma TV has magnificent HD resolution With deep dark black and high contrast colors. More than enough connections to receive input from any source I have in mind including my computer. This has been a great value for me.
I love this HD Plasma!

Wow! I bought this TV to replace a 50" Panasonic plasma purchased 4 years ago. The difference in every way is amazing. The Panasonic was on the leading edge of HD when I bought it. Clearly the technology has progressed in quantum leaps.
This Samsung is beautifully constructed - super thin, clean design, high-quality materials. The TV is packed securely in a box that is not overly gigantic. It was moved several times before unpacking. When I finally did remove the box, which is very easy to do, everything was in perfect condition.
One of the big selling points for me is that it includes a stand that allows the unit to swivel.. and not just a few degrees. It really does travel close to 45 degrees in either direction - enough to cover any angle I need. The stand is a brushed silver metal and the stem is short, fat and clear. In total, it is a very attractive package.
There is a cool blue light that shines into the stem when the TV is on. This is the default setting for nearly all of the HD Samsungs. After a good bit of searching, I found the option to turn the light off in Menu > Setup (Plug and Play) > Light Effect. The stand was not an after-thought. If you don't need to mount the TV on a wall, this stand is a perfect alternative. Contrary to the User Guide, the TV came fully attached to the stand. It would be easy to remove for a wall mount installation.
The picture and on-board features are really excellent. I have it connected to a Comcast HD DVR, LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player and a Bose CineMate Series II Digital Home Theater Speaker System. The DVR and cable box are both connected with AmazonBasics Ultra-High-Speed HDMI Cable Braided (6.5 Feet/2.0 Meters) [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging].
As described by other reviewers at Amazon and on other sites, including CNET, there are numerous adjustments if you care to refine the images. Out of the box, the default settings produce a beautiful picture. I won't write about this in detail as it would be a repeat of information and positive opinions that can be found elsewhere.
I am not using the on-board speakers so I can't comment on those.
The supplied remote is fine. However, I use the Logitech Harmony One Advanced Universal Remote [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging]. I have written separate reviews for this remote and the LG Blu-ray.
Finally, delivery by CEVA was exactly as promised - correct time and date, a call in advance of arrival, careful handling of the product. Although I have placed many hundreds of orders with Amazon in the past several years, this was my largest single product purchase. In the past, I have bought big-ticket items from other more local vendors. Based on my experience with this purchase, I would not hesitate to buy expensive product from Amazon.
