Product Description
If you're looking for a big-screen, high-performance HDTV that fits your lifestyle, look no further than DLP TV by Samsung with DLP Technology from Texas Instruments. Our pedestal design models are less than 21 inches deep. Samsung's Cinema Smooth(TM) 720p and 1080p light engines with DNIe(TM) deliver a crisp, life-like picture that is closer to film. Any way you look at it, Pedestal design DLP TVs from Samsung are a tremendous value for a wide screen HDTV. Cinema Smooth 1080p Light Engine Samsung's Cinema Smooth 1080p light engine is the culmination of years of industry-leading research and development. It releases the maximum power of the new generation of DMD microdisplays for the most film-like picture. It creates an image with no visible pixel structure and accurate shading and better low-light detail. Faster Color Wheel Samsung's 2.6" color wheel spins at 10,800 rpm for smooth fast motion video, and has seven color segments for more accurate colors. It achieves film-like transitions without pixel breakup found in slower color wheel designs and slower switching LCD microdisplays. Air Bearing technology also makes it whisper quiet. Next Generation DLP Chips Samsung's DLP TVs employ the latest Digital Micromirror Devices (DMD). These new-generation microdisplays have switching speeds twice as fast as previous generations and up to 1,000 times faster than competing microdisplay technologies. When combined with Samsung's new Cinema Smooth 1080p light engine, the result is a crisp, bright picture with deep, rich colors that are closer to film. Samsung's DNIe(TM) - Digital Natural Image engine Samsung's exclusive Digital Natural Image engine makes the sharpest and clearest images possible, regardless of the profile of input signals. Five image processors and a six-times density enhancer ensure the best picture from any source. Now in its third generation, DNIe guarantees the trues

rated 2 out of 5 1080P IN TITLE ONLY
by Chris Arcemont from FORT MYERS, FL, 2007-08-10

BOUGHT MINE ABOUT 1 YEAR AGO. NO PROBLEMS SO FAR. I BOUGHT A SAMSUNG BLU RAY SEVERAL DAYS AGO AND WANTED TO HOOK UP TO GET TRUE 1080P. HAD SOME ISSUES WITH SETUP SO I CALLED SAMSUNG. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS MODEL OF 1080P CANNOT ACCEPT TRUE 1080P PICTURE. I HAVE TO WATCH MY BLU RAY ON 1080I SIGNAL. WHY THE HELL WOULD SAMSUNG MARKET A 1080P TV THAT DOES NOT GET TRUE 1080P PICTURES? I WAS TOLD THAT IT UP-CONVERTS PICTURE FROM 1080I MAXIMUM RESOLUTION. I WAS NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS. IF ONLY I HAD KNOWN WHEN I BOUGHT IT. SO IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR TRUE 1080P, DO NOT BUY THIS TV!!! BUYER BEWARE.

rated 5 out of 5 Samsung HLR5688W Amazes Everyone Who Comes Over
by Derek E. Outley from FL, 2006-08-24

I bought this HDTV even though samsung no longer makes it. I love the look even before you turn, it on it screams "i am awesome" then you turn it on and see HD, even more awesome. I have a brother who has 2 plasmas in his house, He came over and saw my 56" and was blown away, he thought it was a plasma! DLP's never look as good in the store as they when they are in a home.

Samsung did an awesome job here, from the first time I turned it on I got perfect color and picture, I did not adjust anything. The HDTV channels are awesome perfect, when it comes to Standard TV channels it does a good job but the blacks and ghost images are more noticable. The sound from it is not bad at all, but I still recomend a quality surround sound to complete the package.

More than enough inputs, for me, all the features you could want, and ready for the future with 1080p.

I love my tv, and recommend it. If you want to make your friends jealous this TV will do it.

Crystal clear HD picture, easy set up, its bigger in your house then it looks in the stores. Its funny that people complain about bad picture quality on non HD channels, but ALL big screen TVs are like this, reguardless of manufacturer. Make sure you have the correct HD set up from your cable or sat. provider..stores dont tell you this and you think all your channles will look as good as the do in the store display. They all take 30 sec. or so to power on. 1080i input with 1080p out put, over the years 1080p should happen, with 3:2 pull down feature (which this set has) its barley a change in the Pic quality. There will always be something better that comes out. There are a few lip sync issues but most occur with optical audio set up. It can be corrected with a Home theater system, it is also a common prob with many HD tvs, it is why Home theater recievers have a delay mode to correct this. Bright beautiful colors, extra fine detail and enough inputs for stuff you done even own, but if you do..this set has it. This Darth Vader looking set is probaly one of the best looking cabinets and you dont have to spend the extra 300 bucks for the stand. Its impressive looking in both style and PQ. Samsungs DLP do show why they are the better manufacturer. They pioneered this and it definatly shows. I had a few questions before I bought it and called cust.svs. they were more then helpful..and they werent even from India. Sometimes its hard to see how good it looks in the store, because they have the reception form a roof top ant. split off to 10 other TVs. It comes down to what your eyes like, what your wallet likes, etc. Whether u like, samsung, toshi, mitsu, fords or chevys. Great set, great style, great buy.
