I've had this unit for over a year - It's a little quirky, but easy to get used to (TV has to be on and on the right input for anything to display if "regza link" is disabled in the Blue Ray. NetFlix has a decent menu (better than Tivo's) and Pandora works well.
I've heard of many people losing their unit (turns to a door stop) when Samsung installs an update with no option of getting it repaired under warranty. I've contacted customer support and spent no less than 15 hours on the phone over a few days (when Bangladesh picks up, ask to be escalated to executive support immediately - they are completely useless as would be expected from someone that may never have seen the product and has to follow a script.) Executive support is not much better, but at least they can answer questions without putting you on hold. Again, support was by far the worst I've ever experinced, and for that, I will NEVER give Samsung another penny of my hard earned cash.
WARNING! Some unethical vendors (possible examples include Regal Camera, and maybe others) have offered this product for a lower price, I purchased a second unit from them for my better half... only to find out that it was a Canadian Unit! No warrantly is valid in the US, and Samsung Canda will not give me the time of day since I am not calling from Canada! Buyer beware, Regal Camera claimed that they had a disclaimer saying that it's an imported unit, well, no doh, aren't all units imported??? The disclaimer should read "sold without a factory warranty", just a warning to save the next trusting person out there the trouble I went through.
This unit does not play Sherlock Holmes (personal experience, 2 netflix bluerays in a row force me through 9 previews (skipping is disabled) and locks up while trying to load the movie, I've tried all suggestions from many helpful folks, but to no avail. I've read similar complaints regarding Avatar.
Bottom line - buy Samsung if you do not mind throwing the product away when it breaks, even if it's under warranty - their mission statement seems to be "if we keep em on the phone long enough, transfer them to enough clueless people, they will get tired of us and hang up after a few hours, and it will only cost us 50 cents an hour in India"
If you happen to be a Samsung executive, and are reading this - please consider restructuring your whole support organization, and replacing the executive leadership in charge of customer support with people that are not hell bent on destroying your company's reputation.
Dead after 15 uses

The first sign that my BD-P1600 was a piece of junk was the loud whine that came from it when watching a disc. Then it stopped working after about 15 uses over the course of six months. All I can do is turn it on and off; otherwise it is completely unresponsive. I can't even reset it because all of the buttons on the remote control and the front panel, other than the power and open buttons, are unresponsive. Samsung says it will fix it for $50, but I'm done with Samsung. What a piece of junk.

Had no issues for the first year, and had a good picture. But now the player faults on a regular basis, with the front-panel completely losing (internal) comms with the main board. Happens mostly after a Netflix pause timeout/poweroff. Sometimes it can be resurrected by power-cycling repeatedly via remote, many times needs a complete power disconnect to have a prayer at getting it back. Other reviews state this is a fairly common problem that Samsung is aware of, it's a manufacturing problem and they will not fix it for free even if the fault happens while under the 1 year warranty. Guess that is why this model is being discontinued. Too bad was a good player when it worked.
Spazzes out during DVD playback

It plays blu-ray discs fine. It however spazzes out during DVD playback. The screen will blink white and the speakers will pop every few seconds (minutes if you're lucky). This does not happen during blu-ray playback. I tried every possible audio and video option combination and it does not solve it. Stay away from this player. You will thank me.
