We bought this TV for 4.000.00 and had to have the bulb changed after 2 years and now after just 4 years it has a recall on it. It has blue shadowing and Sony offered us the ability to purchase another Sony LCD and pay 843.00 for a 2,000 TV. What a great deal right. I told them that I had already spent 4 grand and wanted this one repaired, so I am waiting.

I've had this TV almost 2 years and it can produce a stunning image. I just had the bulb changed under the EW and it makes a world of difference, obviously. It has not been trouble free, in the beginning it was dropping memorized channels but that was fixed with a firmware upgrade. Sony, unlike others, doesn't provide a website to download upgrades, that is a pain! It also has a bug the pops up the info screen when ever it so chooses. THAT can be a mojor PitA if you're in the middle of a FPS game and half your screen gets covered by text. Sony still has no fix for this, AFAIK. The picture quality can be stunning, but this set like all LCD based sets suffers from black crush (loss of detail in black ares), I traded that strike for the overall beauty of the picture quality and it's ability to deliver a fairly respectable SD (standard def) image. Sound quality is good for internal sound (sub-woofer!). Use a 5.1 system for the serious stuff, but you can watch general TV with the internals and not be dissapointed. Get an extended warranty to protect your investment! Not sure if it mentioned this in the description but the set has QAM but Sony never labeled it as such, it will pick up clear digital channels on cable and also ATSC for OTA. I pais over $1K more when it was new so the price is decent but check it against current sets in a new condition as the prices they are a droppin and Fry's advertised, today, a 61" HDiLA JVC for $1500. So compare.
