Panasonic DVD-S58 Reviews

rated 4 out of 5 Good piece for the money.
by stangm1 , 2010-07-19

Panasonic makes a pretty good product, and this no different. I believe I got this for $40 and it's the best bang for the buck that i've found. Picture is very clear, quick to load and comes with an HDMI cable. Very happy with this purchase!

Great price, working well so far(no vierra link)great bargain for price.Just hope
the unit lasts a while.

rated 3 out of 5 Incorrect Product Description!!!
by R. Rho from Buffalo, NY USA, 2010-06-09

Warning! The description for the DVD-s58 model seems to be pasted from the DVD-s54 model (discontinued), which despite the lower model number is actually a notch or two above this one. I bought the s58 with the understanding it would play AVI (Divx) encoded discs... it DOES NOT support Divx.

For what it is--a basic upconverting DVD player--the Panasonic DVD-s58 performs well, but did not suit my original purpose in purchasing it.

rated 4 out of 5 Nice, but...
by K. Larsen from Texas, 2010-04-22

Works well, upscales as advertised.
But as a previous reviewer noted, this is not a Viera link player.
Great quality for the price, though.

rated 3 out of 5 Does not have Viera Cast capability
by R. Arant Jr. from Seattle, WA USA, 2010-03-09

Just wanted to warn others that, despite the product description, this unit does NOT have any Viera Cast connectivity options (wired or wireless). For the price, I'm not surprised -- and I needed a new DVD player, so I figured it would be a bonus if true. Other than that, it seems solid. I've only had it a day, the 1080p upscaling looks good and the remote is a little awkward.
