Mitsubishi LT-40151 Reviews

rated 1 out of 5 Don't buy the Mitsubishi lt 151 or 153 series

The color cannot be adjusted acceptably for the at home darkened room situation. An expert video calibrator could not eliminate the overly magenta skin color. Also dark areas are grainy. Mitsubishi tech support refuses to admit there is a problem.

rated 4 out of 5 Quality Picture, Over Priced, Fits my Space.

I bought this TV to replace my 36" Sony Trinitron that just died. My Sony was in a custom built-in cabinet. I wanted to replace it with the biggest flat screen I could buy.

The only TV that fit my requirement was the Mitsubishi lt-40151. Its slim frame design met my needs perfectly. I looked at every brand of 40" flat screen and this had the smallest width footprint. I didn't want to go down to a 37". Of course that would have save me around $1000.

Here is my review of this TV (after 1 day):

Good Things:
1> The picture quality is outstanding.
2> The sound is very good for a flat screen.
3> The TV channel guide is very nice.

Bad Things:
1> The price. If I didn't have a size requirement, I would have never looked at this TV. With the $[...] price, I shouldn't have items 2,3 and 4 in this list.
2> The remote control. Not layed out very well and the menu keys are way too small.
3> The TV menu is not very user friendly. It took me longer than usual to get the TV set up with over the air broadcast and my devices. **I've set up a lot of TV's, most recently Samsung and Sony LCD's. Their TV menu were very easy to navigates and very user friendly. Mitsubishi has work to do here.
4> Changing channels was very slow. Way too slow for a $[...] 40" TV. I have a Radio Shack converter box that changes channel 3x as fast. A $[...] TV should be able to match Radio Shack. **My Samsung and Sony LCD work much faster too.

Over all:
I would buy this TV again, since it was the biggest TV I could fit in my space.

Hopes:
I hope $[...] price tag has bought me a quality built TV that will last longer than my 12 year old 36" Sony Trinitron (that should have lasted 20+ years).
