Magnavox 19MF337B Reviews

rated 2 out of 5 wow. from great to crap
by J. Vega from sacramento, CA USA, 2010-04-01

When i first bought it, it was great. Used it for my PC and TV watching. Sadly like most people, 2 yrs later, it started turning off and on with static lines everywhere making screeching noises at random. My warranty was over and i knew i was tricked INSTANTLY. I have had 10 yr old tv's last longer then this one. After reading other peoples review im glad im not alone. Also to those who say it works fine, just wait around til the 2-3 yr mark, it will fail.

rated 1 out of 5 This is without a doubt the worst TV I have ever purchased.
by C. Grilli from NJ, USA, 2010-03-08

I purchased this Magnavox TV about 2 years ago. In recent weeks, whenever the unit is turned on, there is a loud screach that sounds like a cross between chalk on a blackboard and enraged Harpies with PMS. Then the sound typically turns off, then the picture goes blank. Sometimes the unit turns itself off, only to turn back on, and sometimes remains off. This goes on for about 15 minutes, after which time, everything seems to be quite normal. Magnavox will not not take any responsibility for their woefully inadequate product, siting that the unit is no longer under their woefully inadequate 1 year warranty. I will NEVER buy a Magnavox product EVER AGAIN. I am completely dissatisfied.

rated 1 out of 5 Not fit for its purpose
by Claire Wong , 2010-01-17

I got this TV as a gift about 18 months ago. It worked well initially and I was able to get good picture quality without cable connections. But it started acting up in the last 2 months....unable to start up without suffering the 5 to 10 minutes of high pitch buzzing and the continuous switching on and off of the set. Although it was located in the bedroom, the buzzing noise bothered everyone in the family including our dog. Extremely annoying. After reading all the very helpful comments of "fellow sufferers" on this review board, I have decided not to waste my time on trying to find a repair solution for it but to get rid of it. I used to think better of Phillips' quality.

rated 1 out of 5 FAULTY CONSTRUCTION
by PmofoC from Los Angeles, CA, 2009-12-29

It's been about a year since I bought this TV and started having problems with it. I decided to do a little research online and lo and behold, almost EVERYONE else who bought this TV had the same exact problems. Like the others, the TV started to make loud popping noises like a capacitor makes when it explodes. The TV would then repeatedly shut it self off and on again. Don't be fooled by the picture quality, this TV will not last. It astounds me that companies actually sell products like this. I, for one, will never buy anything from Magnavox ever again.

rated 1 out of 5 BUYER BEWARE
by Edwin V. Clarke from Pittsburgh, PA, 2009-12-05

Two years after purchasing a 19" HDTV television it started acting-up. It would make this HORRIBLE noise every time we turned it on... it would shut-off then turn on... then make the noise again and shut off... and repeat this for about 15 minutes until it would stop. I sent the company a letter. Two weeks later no reply. I did a Google search and found hundreds and hundreds of unhappy customers. See for yourself at [...]

Yes, it is past the manufacturers warranty, but a company that makes a product that sells for anywhere between $300 and $3000 that doesn't last more than two years should 1) be ashamed and 2) be out of business.

Do your homework and find a company that makes a decent TV.
