Customer Reviews

rated 5 out of 5 Great Product
by Richard L. Mercado from Middletown, NY, 2010-07-21

Basically this now controls all my stereo equipment without any problems. Has all the same options all my other remotes had. Only negative is that it can be a bit complicated initially to set up and getting use to all the options but once it is setup works like a charm. Love it.

I like this so much I am buying one for my Mom and a second one for me. Very easy to program and use.

rated 4 out of 5 New and imporved over the 880
by Valente Riolo , 2010-07-16

I had the more expensive model - the 880 and it stopped working after about 2 years. It wouldn't hold a charge and I had to press the buttons harder and harder to get them working. I called Logitech and they offered me 50% off a new remote. Since they discontinued the 880 I got the 650 even though it was not a re-chargeable unit. I am using rechargeable batteries in the 650 and so far, I like the 650 over the 880. The buttons are much easier to work and more responsive. The unit just has a better feel to it. I still don't know if the remote has a low battery indicator. I suspect not but it only takes a few hours to recharge the batteries and meanwhile I can always use alkaline temporarily. That's the good thing because when the 880 died, it was unusable. I just hope the remote remembers my settings if I remove the batteries. I was told "yes" by the Logitech sales people but most of the time they don't know what they're talking about. I'll update this after owning it for a few weeks.

rated 4 out of 5 Great, affordable universal remote
by PDSF from SF, CA USA, 2010-07-14

This is my first Harmony remote and I love it. It is infinitely superior to the "learning remotes" I'd been using. It's very easy to set up once you get the hang of it, and works perfectly to control my small (4 devices, 4 remotes) system. Logitech telephone support was very helpful in pointing out a couple of subtleties I didn't immediately recognize, and now it does everything I want it to. Others have discussed features in detail so I won't. My only complaint is that although battery life seems to be very good, you have no way of knowing how much battery you have left. I've had it two weeks, reprogrammed and rebooted multiple times and used it quite a bit, and the display looks like the day I bought it. I would guess the batteries will last at least a month with normal use, who knows, maybe much more. I suppose eventually it just stops working and then you replace the batteries, which is acceptable, but a meter would be far more useful. I'll probably spring for two pairs of the "pre-charged" rechargeable AA's since I have a charger sitting around. Otherwise this is an absolutely amazing device and I wish I'd gotten one sooner!

rated 4 out of 5 Really like it

Just the right number of device controls for a bedroom, office, or the like. Good IR strength. Mostly painless software-based configuration...takes a little getting used to.
