LG BD570 Reviews

rated 5 out of 5 LG BD570 is awesome!!
by John J. Bruggemann from New York City, 2010-07-28

I did a lot of research on Blu-ray players, and narrowed my search down to Sony, Samsung and LG. The LG BD570 was a great value, plus no tax and free shipping made it that much more appealing.

Let me start by saying I am not very advanced when it comes to technology. I can get by, but I read a lot and ask those who know more than me a lot of questions.

My player arrived today and I set up the wireless connection in less than 10 minutes, and that includes opening the NetFlix account. The wireless feature was a must- I would not consider a player without this feature. I had read some reviews that complained about complications setting up the wireless connection. I had no such problems. I plugged in the player, attached the HDMI wires to my receiver and followed the SIMPLE onscreen instructions. If I can do it, anyone can. I also tested my Pandora account, and the music came through my speakers quickly and clearly. Watching YouTube videos on my TV is amazing.

I immediately streamed several movies and TV shows. The unit uploaded them quickly and the quality of both the sound and picture is excellent.

I inserted a DVD (Springsteen Live in London). It seemed to look and sound a bit better than my DVD player did. In any event, it worked perfectly.

I do not have a Blu-ray disk- that will be my final test.

Bottom line, the LG offers a full range of features- wireless being the most important- and excellent quality, all for a very reasonable price.

I will update my review in a few weeks and hopefully my comments will be as positive as they are today.

The no 1 feature of the player is its homelink thingy. It recognized all the drives connected to the seagate network adapter. and played all the various video formats.
Bru Ray looks very stunning, this is my first Blue Ray player, so cannot compare, but am really impressed with the upgrade.
The regular DVDs looks a little bit better, so the upconvert is just OK.
The Netcast feature is OK, am not able to successfully run the Vudu or the raxio streamnow services, however the Netflix movies played very nice.
Just have had the player for a week now, will update the review after a few more weeks.

I'm very happy with everything about this player. I connected it with a cat6 cable directly to my home internet, so I haven't used the wifi. We love to watch the streaming movies and TV from Netflix. The extra feature of looking at our photo libraries on Picasa is cool too. Blu ray movies look beautiful.

I have been putting off buying until now - should have done it before. Streaming netflix and pandora 10 minutes after opening box. pic quality is great!

I've had this player six months. Now it fails to read discs. Read the problem reviews on the Internet. LG has some of the worst customer support I've ever encountered. Warranty? It cost $ 69.00 for them to "look at it." You play the postage back and forth. The labor warranty is 3 months! What a piece of garbage. I will never buy an LG product again
