The best little DVD player ever!

I order movies from all over the world, and American DVD players just don't make the cut. They either don't play them at all, or you have to enter an intricate code if you have the right kind. This little DVD player plays DVD's from all over without having to insert any codes. It also plays great, is light & portable (great for taking on trips). I would just suggest you be a little careful with it. But it's one of the best $30 I've ever spent!
Plays AVIs very well.

I purchased the RJ unit specifically for our camper because it claimed to play AVI files burned to DVDs. The RJ and a new Vizio 26" LCD TV replaced a 26" RCA TV with a built-in DVD player that biffed it after about the 10th or 12th use. (Thank goodness for Costco's additional warranty.) And while I haven't owned it long enough to speak to its longevity, as a DVD player it works wonderfully right now.
Playing AVI files was important due to storage constraints in our camper. Obviously you can fit a lot more content on a DVD as a DIVX or standard AVI file. AVI play works quite well and picture quality is generally accurately reflective of how well the content was recorded and looked on my PC. It even played several files that originally had a DIVX extension when I renamed them with an AVI extension before burning. Navigation is simple as you see a basic file list. Click on your selected item and it plays.
The unit is also very compact and seems solidly built. It's small enough to actually sit under the TV, so it stays mostly within the TV's footprint, which is an advantage in a camper where you have limited space. The remote is pretty standard and while it works just fine, it's not going to win any awards for ergonomic design. Personally, I prefer any remote that includes Play, FF, Reverse, etc. to have those controls near the middle or the top of the remote. The RJ's remote places them at the bottom, which is more difficult for us ham-handed larger guys to manage.
Overall, I'm happy with the RJ and if it holds up reasonably well over time, it will have been well worth the price.

I could play regular DVD's. Yet to try the ones that I bought in INDIA. But, I am unable to play any AVI files that I copied on to my DVD Disc. Nothing is there in the Manual. Yet to find how....If anyone played AVI files, please let me know.
Thanks.
After false start seems to work fine

First unit I got was DOA - problem with the DVD tray not opening at all. But I was sent a replacement unit which arrived quickly. Glad I read the reviews for the tip on setting the video output from S-video to component. So far seems fine. I ordered a set of Region 2 DVDs and will see how it copes!
Great value for Region-Free DVD

My old region-free DVD players died (at least they were cheap), so I needed a new player. At less than $40, I was a little wary, but decided to give it a try. It's very compact, which worried me at first glance. I connected the component video out (it has composite too!) and audio out and gave it a spin. Big pink picture. Uh-oh, but then I remembered reading another Amazon review that said this can be fixed by changing the video mode (preset for composite) using the V-Mode button on the remote. Sure enough, it worked great. Picture is good, audio is good, and everyone's happy. I can't comment on longevity yet (usually the bane of these machines), but so far so good (and at $40, I can buy a spare). :)
